Train the trainer

Research has shown that the most frequently used method of training in all sorts of organisations is “on-the-job” training. It’s a practical, convenient and cost-effective way of ensuring that people are taught how to do their jobs by those who know how to do their jobs. Or is it? While it makes good sense to pass on the skills and knowledge of experienced staff to those who are less experienced, it can all go badly wrong if the trainer doesn’t know how to impart the knowledge effectively. It doesn’t necessary follow that those who are good at a job can teach other how to do the job!

If your organisation does on-the-job-training, you could improve its effectiveness by training your trainers.

Train the Trainer is a two-day training course that will help your trainers to
understand the key concepts of training in the workplace
learn a range of training tools and techniques
learn and apply training skills

The course is highly practical, and gives participants the opportunity to plan, prepare and conduct an actual training session, and to receive constructive feedback on their performance. (There is plenty of advice and guidance along the way!).

What do you get out it?
Improved training skills
Increased confidence of trainers
Systematic approach to on-the-job training
Less time spent on on-the-job training
More efficient staff – trainers and their trainees

Bullying and Harassment

Under current legislation, (Sex Discrimination, Race Relation Act, Disability Discrimination, etc.) employers must make sure that their working environment is free of discrimination and harassment and have to make it clear to employees that it could be unlawful if they behave in a way that might offend another person, violate their dignity or create a hostile environment.

Many organizations find the legislation confusing, are concerned about their obligations and liabilities, and worry that they have sufficiently robust policies and procedures for dealing with harassment.

We can help!

Our one-day programme on Dealing with Bullying and Harassment in the Workplace is designed to help participants to
• recognise harassment and bullying behaviour
• understand the issues surrounding the problem
• identify methods of dealing with bullying and harassment in the workplace

If the course is intended for mangers/supervisors we’ll focus on managers’ roles and responsibilities, and provide practical help to deal with inappropriate behaviour.. If it’s intended for the general workforce we’ll focus on raising awareness of what is acceptable behaviour and what is not.
